Head of clinical operations
Angela Britton joins the LuMind IDSC team as a Head of Clinical Operations focused on bringing quality to clinical trial networks, as well as identifying new strategies to modernize and streamline approaches to clinical trial conduct. Her role is to continue developing the Down Syndrome – Clinical Trial Network (DS-CTN) to maximize the impact of research conducted through the network to improve the lives of people living with Down syndrome.
She has spent over twenty years working in the clinical research field with both pediatrics and adults in various domains, including significant rare disease experience, most recently in neurology and immunology. Angela’s range of operational experience provides her a unique insight into the challenges of marrying collaborations between academia, the community, and industry partners.
Before joining LuMind IDSC, Angela was Head of Clinical Operations at Lupus Therapeutics. A notable component of her role included growing and managing the clinical trial network from both a strategic and tactical level, focusing on operations to improve the network’s quality and efficacy in the conduct of industry trials.
Prior to working in the lupus space, she was the Head of Clinical Operations at Akashi Therapeutics, a biotechnology firm created by patient foundations and focused on accelerating pediatric rare fibrotic diseases, where she was responsible for leading clinical operations for their Phase I and II therapeutic programs. She was also instrumental in the development and oversight of an international academic clinical trial network, The Cooperative International Neuromuscular Research Group, a clinical trial consortium utilized by industry, biotech and academic partners.
Angela enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, hoping to instill in her children a love of the water and nature through kayaking, sailing, swimming and skiing.
